Just to be Enough, mixed media on paper, 22 x 30″, 2021
This is one of a few mixed media paintings on paper I made during a weird time in my life where I was struggling to connect to my work. I tried to take a more intuitive approach and gradually build up colors, imagery, and texture. This piece in particular, I kind of treated as a sort of diary while I was working on it. It was setting out on my work desk for some time, and I would occasionally just start doodling on it or writing little thoughts I was ruminating on. It’s truly a part of myself.
I experimented a lot while making this, and I think I learned a lot. Material used includes ink, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, stickers, paint markers, sequins, glitter, gloss, colored pencils, and pen.
